Yes, there are many different types of USB-C cables. It all depends on the specs of the port and on the cable. A USB-C port can be USB 2.0, USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 3.1 Gen 2, or Thunderbolt 3. The first thing understand about USB-C is that it only describes the connector type.
